The legendary Celine Dion revealed on Thursday that she is suffering from Moersch-Woltman syndrome, a rare serious incurable neurological condition causing muscle spasms.
Celine announced in an emotional video holding back tears that she will not resume her world tour in Europe in February and said “I’ve been dealing with problems with my health for a long time, and it’s been and it’s been really difficult for me to face these challenges and to talk about everything that I’ve been going through.
Dion expressed her love to her fans and started her video saying “I miss you all so much. I can’t wait to be onstage talking to you in person.” She has always given 100% but right now is unable to perform and is focused on her recovery.
Moersch-Woltman syndrome aka stiff-person syndrome (SPS) has affected “every aspect of her daily life” including difficulty in walking. The disease also affects her singing and doesn’t allow her to use her vocal chords and sing the way she used to.
Celine’s Spring 2023 shows have been postponed to 2024 and her summer 2023 shows have been cancelled. Celine cancelled some of her North American shows earlier this year, citing health issues and now we know more about what she’s been dealing and coping with.
The 5 Time Grammy Awards Winner and 20 Time Juno Awards Winner is hopefully that she will return to the stage when her health permits. She sees an occupational therapist daily and has the support of a team of doctors and her precious children.
Celine thanking her fans for their love, support and encouraging words on social media and wrapped up her heart felt message by saying “I love you guys so much and I really I really hope I can see you again real soon.
This is so sad and heartbreaking but hopefully in time the icon will return to the stage to perform for her fans. Sending my thoughts, prayers and positive vibes and best wishes to our Canadian treasure Celine Dion. ❤️
