The Weeknd Leads The Pack at BBMA!
Billboard is showing lots of love to Canadians including The Weeknd, Justin Bieber and Drake.
The Weeknd received a whopping 17 nominations for the 2022 Billboard Music Awards followed by Doja Cat with 14, Justin Bieber, Ye (Kanye West) and Olivia Rodrigo with 13 nods each and Drake with 11.
The Weeknd is nominated for top artist, top male artist and top Hot 100 artist. His collaboration with Ariana Grande, “Save Your Tears (Remix),” is up for 6 awards.
Drake is nominated as top artist, top male artist, top Billboard 200 artist and top Hot 100 artist. He’s up in the Billboard 200 album category for Certified Lover Boy.
Bieber is the third-most decorated artist in BBMA history, with 21 wins. He trails Drakevwith 29 and Taylor Swift with 25. Justin is a double finalist in both the top collaboration and top R&B song categories.
Doja Cat is the leading female finalist including top artist, top female artist and top Hot 100 artist. Her album Planet Her is a finalist for 2 awards, while her Grammy-winning smash “Kiss Me More,” featuring SZA, is up for top Hot 100 song and top collaboration, as well as in the new top viral song category.
The Billboard Music Awards will air live on NBC on Sunday, May 15 inside the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas.
Nick Jonas hosted the BBMA last year and Kelly Clarkson the previous 3 years. No host has been announced yet. The ICON AWARD will be announced at a later date.
THE BBMA air the same night as the Canadian Juno Awards on May 15 live on CBC from The Budweiser Stage in Toronto.
