Toronto Daily Bread Food Bank is reportedly seeing the highest demand ever since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The Daily Bread Food Bank has said that visits last month to the food bank has quadrupled. With inflation raging in Ontario and people struggling to afford to put food on the table for their own families, there is a lack of disposable income from Canadians.
Last month, they saw almost 270,000 visits to the food bank which was the highest number of visits in history! Before the pandemic, it saw nearly 65,000 visits per month.
CEO Neil Hetherington is scheduled to speak at a news conference Tuesday morning in Etobicoke. He will be talking about the rising numbers as well as government recommendations to make changes and improvements to the issues.
