FLOAT LIKE A BUTTERFLY AN STING LIKE A BEE!
MUHAMMAD ALI (Cassius Clay) will be inducted into WWE Hall of Fame Class of 2024 by his wife Lonnie in Philadelphia on Friday April 5th as part of Wrestle Mania 40 Weekend.
ALI was one of the most loved, recognized and iconic personalities in sports history! The 3 Time World Heavyweight Boxing Champion and Olympic Gold Medalist was known around the globe for his charisma and confidence and his ability to back it up inside the ropes.
“The Greatest of All Time” in the boxing ring also made an impact in the world of Sports Entertainment! He was a huge fan of professional wrestling and his mic and interview style and attitude was inspired by legendary wrestler Georgeous George!
Muhammad Ali once challenged Gorilla Monsoon and on June 26, 1976 competed in “The War of the Worlds” an exhibition match against WWE Hall of Famer Antonio Inoki inside the Nippon Budokan Arena in Tokyo, Japan.
After retiring from the boxing ring with a career record of 56-5 with 37 knockouts, Ali returned to the squared circle where he served as the special guest referee and outside enforcer at the inaugural WrestleMania on March 31, 1985 during the main event between Hulk Hogan & Mr. T vs “Rowdy” Roddy Piper & “Mr. Wonderful” Paul Orndorff. Ali’s defining moment in the match came when he punched Piper with his signature right hand that restored order to the bout.
Muhammad Ali sadly passed away on June 3rd, 2016, at 74 but his legacy lives forever!
Congrats to the GOAT the late great Muhammad Ali on your long over due and well deserved induction into the WWE HOF!
