David Soul From “Starsky and Hutch” Passed Away At 80

Sad to hear the legendary David Soul who played the role of Detective Kenneth “Hutch” Hutchinson on the TV series “Starsky & Hutch” along with Paul Michael Glaser from 1975 to 1979 and appeared in the 2004 film version with Ben Stiller and Owen Wilson passed away at 80. He was surrounded by his family at a hospital in London, England. David was born David Richard Solberg on Aug. 28, 1943 and passed away January 4, 2023.

I was a huge fan of the tv show growing up. Condolences to his family and friends. David made cameo appearances in I Dream of Jeannie, Flipper, Star Trek. The FBI, All In The Family, The Street of San Francisco,Cannon and many more.

Soul was Joshua Bolt on Here Come the Brides from 1968 to 1970 and Officer John Davis in Magnum Force in 1973. He also starred in the 1979 hit TV movie adaptation Salem’s Lot by Stephen King and Appointment With Death with Peter Ustinov in 1988.

David was also a singer and scored a huge #1 hit with in Canada/USA/UK and other countries with “Don’t Give Up on Us” and “Silver Lady” (#1 in UK) in 1977.

David’s wife, Helen Snell said he died on Thursday “after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family.

“David Soul—beloved husband, father, grandfather and brother—died yesterday after a valiant battle for life in the loving company of family. He shared many extraordinary gifts in the world as actor, singer, storyteller, creative artist and dear friend. His smile, laughter and passion for life will be remembered by the many whose lives he has touched.”

David Soul was married 5 times and had 6 children.
