Hipgnosis Songs Capital has cornfirmed it bought 100% of JUSTIN BIEBER’s publishing, artist royalties from his master recordings and neighboring rights.
According to Billboard The deal was priced at just over $200 million USD making this the largest rights sale for any artist of Bieber’s generation. It’s also Hipgnosis’ biggest acquisition covering all 290 titles in Bieber’s catalog released prior to December 31, 2021, including his most recent 2021 album JUSTICE.
The Boss Bruce Springsteen sold his catalog for 500 Million. Bob Dylan a reportedly 200-400 Million and David Bowie’s Estate sold for 250 Million. Genesis and Phil Collins catalogs were sold for a reported $300 million. Other artists have done the same taking advantage of the Tax Loophole.
Justin Timberlake, Leonard Cohen, Nile Rodgers, Kenny Chesney, Neil Young and Nelly Furtado all sold some of their rights to Hipgnosis. Sting, Future, Frank Zappa and Neil Diamond also sold certain assets to investors in 2022.
According to Variety Bieber’s songs will continue to be administered by Universal Music, the singer’s longtime home. Last Summer the Biebs played a few shows then suspeneded all his tour dates to focus on his health. He was diagnosed with Ramsay Hunt Syndrome a rare virus that caused facial paralysis last summer.
