Meet Thunder, our Ontario SPCA Pet of the Week!
If you're looking for a fun-loving best friend with a heart as big as his name, then you have to meet Thunder. This sweet boy has spent far too much of his life in and out of shelters, and more than anything, he's hoping to finally find a forever family to call his own.
Thunder is playful, goofy, curious, and always ready for an adventure. Whether he's splashing around in the water, tossing his favourite toys around, or simply soaking up attention from his people, he knows how to make every day a little brighter. He absolutely loves people . He's also done well with other dogs and enjoys making new canine friends.
The only thing Thunder asks is for a home without cats.
One of the best ways we've gotten to know Thunder is through our Dog Day Out program, where people from the Community sign up to take the Animal Centre dogs out for a day of fun. Everyone who spends time with Thunder says the same thing—he's an absolute joy to be around. He's playful, curious, and incredibly well-mannered. He walks beautifully on leash, rides calmly in the car, greets people with a wagging tail, and is friendly with dogs of all sizes. In fact, one volunteer described him as "a gentle giant and a true gentleman."
Thunder is more than ready to leave shelter life behind and start his next chapter with a family who will love him as much as he'll love them.
You can meet Thunder at the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre, 16586 Woodbine Ave, Stoiuffville.
The Animal centre is open Monday through Sunday from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
He'll go home neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and with food from Royal Canin to help make his transition into his new home as smooth as possible.

With temperatures heating again this week, it's the perfect time to remember that pets and hot cars never mix.
Even on a warm day, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise to dangerous levels in just minutes—even if the windows are cracked. Leaving your pet in a vehicle for "just a few minutes" can quickly become life-threatening, putting them at risk of heat exhaustion or fatal heatstroke.
Help keep your furry family members safe by leaving them at home if they can't come inside with you. Make sure they have access to fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day.
