Pet of the Week - Butters

Pet of the Week - Butters

Butters is three years old, and he’s every bit as sweet as his name. He’s a gentle, affectionate guy who loves his people. Give him some attention, a few head scratches, and a cozy spot beside you, and he’s a very happy boy!

Butters is looking for a nice, calm home where he can settle in and really enjoy life. He does have a history of something called idiopathic cystitis, which is a bladder condition that can sometimes flare up when a cat is stressed. The good news is that a calm, low-stress environment can really help, and with a little understanding and the right veterinary care, Butters can continue to be the loving companion he is.

For Butters, having a veterinarian who knows him and can help if he ever experiences a flare-up will be especially important.

So, if you’re looking for a sweet, loving cat who would love nothing more than to have a person of his own, come meet Butters! He has so much love to give and is ready to find his forever home.

You can meet Butters at the Ontario SPCA York Region Animal Centre in Stouffville anytime Mon-Sun 11:00 AM – 6:00 PM .

Come say hello — he may just melt your heart!

With temperatures heating again this week, it's the perfect time to remember that pets and hot cars never mix.

Even on a warm day, the temperature inside a parked vehicle can rise to dangerous levels in just minutes—even if the windows are cracked. Leaving your pet in a vehicle for "just a few minutes" can quickly become life-threatening, putting them at risk of heat exhaustion or fatal heatstroke.

Help keep your furry family members safe by leaving them at home if they can't come inside with you. Make sure they have access to fresh water, shade, and a cool place to rest, and avoid walks during the hottest parts of the day.

Visit NoHotPets.ca to take the No Hot Pets Pledge and commit to protecting pets from the dangers of hot vehicles. As a thank you, you'll be entered for a chance to win a YETI prize pack!

This summer, be their hero. No Hot Pets—because a parked car is never a safe place for your pet.
