The Toronto Blue Jays fired Manager Charlie Montoyo after 4 seasons.
The Blue Jays announced Wednesday that bench coach John Schneider will take over as interim manager for the remainder of the season and Casey Candaele has been appointed as interim bench coach.
The Jays won 4-3 on Tuesday night over the Phillies but in general have struggled lately and have not reached their full potential with so many hopes and expectations this season.
The Jays are currently 46-42 but have only one twice in 10 games. They are 15.5 games back of the Yankees who have a61-26 record in first place in the AL East. The Rays are 47-40 and Red Sox 47-41.
The Blue Jays face the Phillies again tonight at 7:07pm at Rogers Centre.
