Netflix shared a first look at the long awaited return of Eddie Murphy to the Beverly Hills Cop franchise as Axel Foley in Beverly Hills Cop 4.
Previously titled Beverly Hills Cop: Axel Foley and titlet Beverly Hills Cop: Axel F.
The legacy sequel comes 30 years after Beverly Hills Cop III.
Murphy will be joined by fellow returnees Judge Reinhold, John Ashton, Paul Reiser and Bronson Pinchot. Kevin Bacon joins the franchise as an LAPD special-unit officer, Joseph Gordon-Levitt as Foley’s new partner, and Taylour Paige (Hit the Floor) as Foley’s criminal defense attorney daughter.
The movie follows detective Axel Foley (Eddie Murphy), who is back on the beat in Beverly Hills. After his daughter’s life is threatened, she (Taylour Paige) and Foley team up with a new partner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) and old pals Billy Rosewood (Judge Reinhold) and John Taggart (John Ashton) to turn up the heat and uncover a conspiracy.
The original Beverly Hills Cop grossed $234 million at the U.S. box office, making it the highest-grossing domestic release of 1984, and received an Oscar nomination for Best Original Screenplay in 1985. The sequels was released in 1987’s Beverly Hills Cop II and 1994’s Beverly Hills Cop III.
