Over the past few years Celine Dion has struggled with her health issues and now she is ready to share her battle with the rare neurological disease – Stiff Person Syndrome (SPS).
In a post on her Instagram on Tuesday the Canadian icon revealed a documentary called “I Am: Celine Dion.” coming soon to Prime Video.
“Get ready! 🎥 I Am: Celine Dion, a documentary directed by Oscar-Nominated Irene Taylor, will be released globally on @primevideo “This last couple of years has been such a challenge for me, the journey from discovering my condition to learning how to live with and manage it, but not to let it define me. As the road to resuming my performing career continues, I have realized how much I have missed it, of being able to see my fans. During this absence, I decided I wanted to document this part of my life, to try to raise awareness of this little-known condition, to help others who share this diagnosis.” – Celine Dion
Celine Dion cancelled her Las Vegas residency and cited health concerns in 2021 and revealed her diagnosis with SPS in 2022.
She initially cancelled the North American leg of her Courage World Tour due to “severe and persistent muscle spasms” then all remaining shows, but said she was “working really hard to build back strength.”
No treatment eliminates or cures SPS at this time but medications and other therapies can help manage symptoms and improve quality of life and some treatments may help prevent disease progression.
We applaud Celine’s courage and strength and pray that one day she will able to do what she loves and sing and perform live for her fans.
