Congratulations to all the nominees for The 81st Annual Golden Globe Awards!
Cedric the Entertainer and Wilmer Valderrama announced the nominees on Monday.
The Globes will honor the best in Film and American Television at the The Beverly Hilton in Beverly Hills, California, produced by Dick Clark Productions, Ricky Kirshner, and Glenn Weiss; the latter will also serve as director. This is the first ceremony after Dick Clark Productions and Eldridge Industries took full control of the Golden Globes from the Hollywood Foreign Press Association. The ceremony will air live on January 7, 2024 on CBS in the United States for the first time since 1982 and will be streamed on Paramount+.
The Biggest Grossing Blockbuster of the year “BARBIE” took in 1.4 Billion at the Box Office received 9 nominations, including best comedy or musical and best actress for Margot Robbie.
The atomic bomb biopic “Oppenheimer” scored best drama and 8 nods in total at the upcoming 2024 Golden Globes.
Although very different movies Barbie and Oppebheimer were pitted against each other by the media as the battle of “Barenhemier” and were released on the same day July 21, 2023.
The series Succession also received 9 nominations for its final season.
Taylor Swift: The Eras Tour film is nominated for cinematic and box office achievement. The category is a new addition for 2024, and also includes nominees Barbie and Oppenheimer. Swift will also go up against The Super Mario Bros. Movie, Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1, John Wick: Chapter 4 and Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 in the category.
This marks the first Golden Globes in which each category features at least 6 nominees as opposed to 5.
