Doja Cat “Paint The Town Red” is the first Hip Hop/Rap song to Reach Number 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 in 2023. It’s also her first as a solo artist. “Paint” hit #1 In Canada, UK, Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Switzerland, Czechia, Latvia, Lithuania and Luxembourg.
The track is from her upcoming 4th studio album “Scarlet” and samples the 1964 classic “Walk On By” by Dionne Warwick.
Hip Hop is celebrating it’s 50th Anniversary this year and finally a song from the genre is in top spot on the chart which has been dominated by country artists including Morgan Wallen, Jason Aldean, Oliver Anthony Music and Zack Bryan & Kacey Musgraves who were Number 1 last week. Luke Combs peaked at #2 but slid to #3 this week on the chart.
