BARBIE is not only the biggest movie of the year domestically in Canada and the USA and on the door stop of surpassing “SUPER MARIO” for worldwide domination taking in $1.342 billion at the global box office according to The Hollywood Reporter but it’s also Warner Bros.’ highest-earning theatrical release of all time, not adjusted for inflation.
BARBIE passed Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows – Part 2, which previously held the title as the studio’s biggest release after its 2011 premiere, raking up a total of $1.341 billion in theaters globally.
BARBIE was released on July 21st and dropped to #2 in it’s 6th week. The new Number 1 is Gran Turismo with $17.4 million from North American theaters while “Barbie’ added another $15.1 million to it’s overall total.
