The Toronto Maple Leafs lifted one curse that has plagued them since 2004 and now take care of the one that has haunted them for 56 years!
For the first time in 19 years the Maple Leafs are heading to the second round of the NHL Playoffs eliminating the 2020 and 2021 Stanley Cup Champions Tampa Bay Lightning in 6 games.
The Buds defeated the Bolts 2-1 with an overtime goal from captain John Tavares on Saturday night in Tampa.

The Leaf will face the Florida Panthers who stunned the Boston Bruins the 2023 Presidents Trophy Winner in 7 Games.
The Cats were down 3-1 in the series and crawled their way back to win the series in 7 games with4-3 victory in OT on Sunday.
The Maple Leafs and Panthers begin their best of 7 series Tuesday at 7pm in Toronto.
This is the first time these two team have met in the playoffs.
The Panthers have never won the Stanley Cup. The Leafs franchise have won 13 Cups with the last one on May 2, 1967.
The Seattle Kraken upset the the 2022 Stanley Cup Champions with a 2-1 victory on Sunday night in Game 7. The Kraken will face the Dallas Stars.
The Vegas Golden Knights will play the Edmonton Oilers in Round 2 action.
The New Rangers host the New Jersey Devils tonight at 8pm. The winners will face the Carolina Hurricanes.
