This is Dion’s first release of new music since she announced her diagnosis of an incurable neurological disease in December. “Stiff Person Syndrome” is a condition characterized by sudden severe muscle spasms that she said made it difficult to walk and prevented her from using her vocal cords to sing the way she’s used to. She cancelled and postponed tour dates to focus on her health.
Dion plays herself in the romantic comedy, which finished filming in early 2021 and stars Priyanka Chopra Jonas and Sam Heughan.
The movie will feature 11 songs from Dion that are woven into the narrative of the film and its characters.
“Love Again” follows the story of Mira Ray (Chopra Jonas), who sends a series of romantic texts to her late fiancé’s old phone number, not realizing that the number has been reassigned to Rob Burns (Heughan), a journalist who becomes captivated by her heartfelt messages. When Rob is assigned to write a profile of Celine Dion, he enlists her help to figure out how to meet Mira in person and win her heart. Dion expressed her hope that audiences will enjoy the movie and her new songs, which she believes add to the feel-good story of the film.
LOVE AGAIN hits theatres on May 5 and the album drops on May 12th.
