“SUPER MARIO BROS MOVIE is Number 1 at The Box Office followed by John Wick, Dungeons & Dragons, Air and Scream VI rounds out the Top 5.
Despite poor reviews by critics the new “Super Mario Bros Movie” has broken box office records, scoring the most successful global opening of all time for an animated film. The film broke other records, including the best-ever opening for a movie based on a video game and the top opening of 2023.
The family film – Hollywood’s second version of the hit Nintendo game took in $377 Million around the globe in its first five days of release. The previous record of $358M held by Frozen 2.
The Super Mario Bros. Movie is Number 1 in North America, earning $146.4 million in a 3 day period and 204.6 Million in 5 days during the Easter Long Weekend according to Deadline.
Among Easter weekend openings, Super Mario Bros ranks third behind 2016’s Batman vs. Superman $181 Million and 2015’s Furious 7‘s $161 Million.
In The Super Mario Bros Movie, the moustache Italian plumber is voiced by Chris Pratt, while Jack Black plays fire-breathing villain Bowser.
