The Toronto Blue Jays opening season game against the St Louis Cardinals was one for the record books. The Blue Jays ended up winning yesterday by a score of 10-9. That wasn’t the only good thing that happened yesterday for the blue birds.
Centre Fielder and lead off hitter, George Springer, collected five hits yesterday in one game. Springer set a record for most hits in a opening day game by a Toronto Blue Jays player.
On top of that, as a team, the Blue Jays collectively had 19 hits for the game. The last time the Blue Jays had 16 or more hits on opening day was way back on April 7th, 1977, the first ever Blue Jays game to be played!
Yesterday was a day for record breaking stats for our boys of summer and it was only game 1 of 162! Jays back in action this weekend to finish of the opening series with both games this weekend starting at 2:10!
Let’s Go Blue Jays!
