The movie “EVERYTHING” took home just about EVERYTHING at the 2023 Oscars honouring the best in film at the Dolby Theatre in Hollywood Sunday night hosted by Jimmy Kimmel who made it through the night without getting slapped or any major incidents like last year when Will Smith assaulted Chris Rock.
“Everything Everywhere All At Once” starring Michelle Yeoh, Jamie Lee Curtis and Ke Huy Quan was nominated for 11 and took home 7 Oscars on Sunday night, including best picture, director, original screenplay, lead actress, supporting actress, supporting actor and editing. This is the most since SlumDog Millionaire scored 8 at the 2009 Oscars. Ben-Hur” made history in 1960 as the first best picture winner to receive 11 Oscars. “Titanic” in 1988 and “The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King” in 2004 also scored 11 Oscars.
On Febraury 26, 2023 the film “Everything” won 4 awards at the Screen Actors Guild Awards.
Lady Gaga surprised the crowd after producers said she would not be able to attend because of filming “Joker” and pull off the show that she wanted but Gaga appeared on the Champagne carpet, in the audience dressed up then on stage with no make up and performed a raw stripped down version of “Hold My Hand” from the movie Top Gun. Tom Cruise did not attend the Oscars on Sunday night.
Rihanna performed “Lift Me Up” dedicated to Chadwick Boseman from Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. The award for the Original Song went to “Naatu Naatu” from “RRR.”

All Quiet on the Western Front with four awards and The Whale with two. Top Gun: Maverick, Black Panther: Wakanda Forever, Avatar: The Way of Water, Women Talking, RRR, Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio and Navalny each won one. Short film winners included An Irish Goodbye, The Boy, the Mole, the Fox and the Horse and The Elephant Whisperers.
