A first-look video has been released by 20th Century Studios for their upcoming remake of iconic 1992 sports comedy “White Men Can’t Jump”.
This version sees Sinqua Walls (“Friday Night Lights”) and Grammy-nominated rapper Jack Harlow take on the roles made famous by Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson in the original.
That film followed a pair of street basketball hustlers who begin at odds with each other and then team up for a bigger game. The title refers to how Harrelson’s character, a former pro basketball player, is able to con money off people who challenge him as they assume he can’t play well since he is white.
The plot specifics of the remake are under wraps but the clip, set to Skee-Lo’s “I Wish,” sees the pair trying to work as a two-man streetball team even as they debate the filmmaking merits of Paul Thomas Anderson and Spike Lee.
The new 30 second video confirms a May 19th release date for the film which will premiere directly on Hulu with no plans for a theatrical release at this time. Lance Reddick, Teyana Taylor, Laura Harrier, and Vince Staples co-star.
