QUEEN rediscovered track featuring Freddie Mercury ‘FACE IT ALONE’
After social media teases and previews it’s a good day to wake up and hear a previously unreleased and rediscovered track from the late great iconic Freddie Mercury and Queen entitled “Face It Alone.”
FACE IT ALONE is a beautiful power ballad and gives me chills and goosebumps and reminds me what an amazing vocalist and talent Freddie Mercury was. Sadly Freddie passed away on November 24, 1991 at the age of 45.
I’m feeling many emotions hearing this haunting dramatic track. It totally resonates with hardcore fans and will attract a new generation of fans that will discover how important Freddie was to the music industry. Thank you Queen for sharing it with the entire world.
The track starts with “When something so near and dear to life/ Explodes inside/ You feel your soul is set on fire.” The second verse “When something so deep and so far and wide/ Falls down beside your cries can be heard/ So loud and clear.” The chorus features the lines “You life is your own/ You’re in charge of yourself/ Master of your home/ In the end, in the end/ You have to face it all alone.”
Brian May said “I’m happy that our team were able to find this track. After all these years, it’s great to hear all four of us …yes, Deacy is there too…working in the studio on a great song idea which never quite got completed…until now!”
Roger Taylor said “We’d kind of forgotten about this track but there it was, this little gem. It’s wonderful, a real discovery. It’s a very passionate piece.”
Queen previously released “Let Me in Your Heart Again,” “Love Kills” and “There Must Be More to Life Than This” with Mercury’s vocals on 2014’s Queen’s Forever Collection.
“Face It Alone” was recorded during the 1988 sessions for Queen’s 13th studio album THE MIRACLE but didn’t make the cut. The track will be available on The Miracle Collector’s Edition coming November 18 featuring original takes, demos and rough cuts, and six previously unreleased tracks! The song will also be available on 7” vinyl.
