Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau posted via Twitter “It was with the heaviest of hearts that we learned of the passing of Canada’s longest-reigning Sovereign, Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. She was a constant presence in our lives – and her service to Canadians will forever remain an important part of our country’s history. As we look back at her life and her reign that spanned so many decades, Canadians will always remember and cherish Her Majesty’s wisdom, compassion, and warmth. Our thoughts are with the members of the Royal Family during this most difficult time.

The Queen reigned as the Monarch for 70 years and came to the throne in 1952 and witnessed many social changes.
The Royal Family gathered at her Scottish estate after concerns grew about her health earlier this morning.
With her death, her eldest son Charles, the former Prince of Wales, will lead the country in mourning as the new King and head of state for 14 Commonwealth realms.
Queen Elizabeth II’s tenure as head of state spanned post-war austerity, the transition from empire to Commonwealth, the end of the Cold War and the UK’s entry into – and withdrawal from – the European Union.
Her reign spanned 15 prime ministers starting with Winston Churchill and Liz Truss appointed by the Queen earlier this week.
We send our condolences, thoughts and prayers to the Royal Family. May the Queen rest in peace. Long Live The Queen!
