Oscar winner Jordan Peele’s U-F-O sci-fi horror thriller “NOPE” topped the North American Box Office in it’s debut week on the big screen!
Peele has achieved a Hollywood Hat Trick with first three feature films hitting Number 1 at the domestic box office during it’s debut weekend! He previously reached Number 1 with “GET OUT” in 2017 and “US” in 2019.
The film starring Daniel Kaluuva, Keke Palmerm, Michael Wincott, Brandon Perea, Steven Yeung and more is about two ranch-owning siblings attempt to capture video evidence of an Unidentified Flying Object.
The movie made an estimated 44 million dollars in ticket sales and opened on 3,785 theaters in the U-S and Canada and is the most expensive film Peele has made to date.
Thor: Love and Thunder as second with $22.1 million, followed by Minions: The Rise of Gru at Number 3 with $17.7 million, Where the Crawdads Sing at Number 4 with $10.3 million and Top Gun: Maverick rounds out the Top 5 with $10 million.
Elvis came in at Number 6 with $6.3 million, Paws of Fury: the Legend of Hank at 7 with $3.9 million, The Black Phone at 8 with $3.5 million, Jurassic World Dominion at 9 with $3 million and Mrs. Harris Goes to Paris at Number 10 with $1.4 million.
Opening in wide release this upcoming weekend is an extended cut of A24’s fantasy epic “Everything Everywhere All at Once,” Focus Features’ “Vengeance” and Warner Bros.’ “DC League of Super-Pets.”
