“AMERICAN GIGOLO” SERIES COMING IN SEPTEMBER
Showtime released a glimpse of the “American Gigolo” series with a trailer set to the sounds of “Call Me” by Blondie playing in the background.
“American Gigolo” is a present-day reimagining of the iconic 1980 film that originally starred Richard Gere and Lauren Hutton and follows Julian Kaye played by John Bernthal after his wrongful conviction release from 15 years in prison as he navigates his complicated relationships with his former lover Michelle (Gretchen Mol), his troubled mother, and the people who betrayed him. While Julian struggles to reconcile the escort he was in the past and the man he is today,
Detective Sunday played by Rosie O’Donnell seeks the truth about the murder that sent Julian to prison all those years ago, unearthing a much larger conspiracy along the way. Wayne Brady has a recurring role in the series as Lorenzo and also stars Lizzie Brochere, Gabriel LaBelle and Leland Orser.
“American Gigolo” premieres on September 9th.
