“Top Gun: Maverick” has flown to new heights! The sequel to the 1986 blockbuster hit starring Tom Cruise as Pete Maverick crossed the $1 Billion mark around the world according to Paramount.
“TGM” has grossed over a Billion at the Global Box Office marking the first time a Tom Cruise movie has reached the milestone and it’s the 50th film of all time to reach the illustrious plateau not adjusted for inflation.
Director Joseph Kosinski’s film has grossed an estimated domestic total of $521.7 million and $484.7 million overseas for a global cume of $1 Billion plus! Kosinski latest film, “Spiderhead” was the most watched movie on Netflix last week.
Top Gun: Maverick earned an estimated 29.6 Million and some reports say $30.5 million domestically and $44.5 million overseas for a weekend total.
The sequel is only the second Hollywood title of the pandemic era to cross $1 billion behind Sony and Disney’s Spider-Man: No Way Home ($1.89 billion).
According to Paramount, more than 16 percent of Top Gun 2′s audience has seen the film more than once in theaters, while 4 percent have seen it four times or more.
‘Maverick” is the highest grossing movie so far in 2022.

The new ‘Elvis’ film from Baz Luhrmann starring Austin Butler and Tom Hanks made it’s debut on the weekend at #1 and took in $31.1 Million according to Warner Bros. Overseas, the biopic took in $20 million from its first 52 markets for a global start of $50.5 million. The U.K. and Australia led with $4.7 million each.
