There’s No Points For Second Place! TOP GUN MAVERICK Is The #1 Movie In The World!
Tom Cruise has been one of the biggest stars in Hollywood since the 1980’s and his movies have generated over 4.2 Billion at the domestic box office but he’s never posted a 100-million dollar opening weekend for one of his movies…. well that is until now!
‘Top Gun: Maverick’ earned an estimated 124-million in gross ticket sales over the weekend and will add to the total during today’s U-S Memorial Day Holiday. Paramount and Skydance films project it will hit $151 Million after today. Tom’s previous best opening weekend was $65 Million for “War of The Worlds” in 2005.
‘TGM’ had an estimated $170 million production budget before marketing.
The blockbuster stars Tom Cruise, Miles Teller, Jennifer Connelly, Jon Hamm, Glen Powell, Lewis Pullman. Ed Harris and Val Kilmer
The new ‘Top Gun’ was originally supposed to be released in 2019 but pushed back due to many reasons but it’s been well worth the wait and already doing huge numbers in North America and an estimated 248 Million worldwide (without Russia and China)
The Studio demanded that the movie been seen on the big screen before it hits streaming services.
According to Paramount 55% of movie goers this weekend were over the age of 35.
Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was Number 2 with 16.5 Million on the weekend followed by The Bob’s Burgers Movie with $12.6 million in ticket sales,Downton Abbey: A New Era’s $5.9 million and The Bad Guys rounded out the top 5 with $4.6 million.
