Woman Drove Off In The Wrong Car From A Walmart Parking Lot And Didn’t Realize For Two Weeks

A woman accidentally ended up swapping her rental car for another man’s vehicle in the parking lot of a Walmart in Cornwall, Ontario.  And she didn’t realize her mistake for another two weeks.  All was revealed when she finally returned the black Infiniti car she had been driving, to a rental car company, whereupon she was told it was the wrong car and not the Nissan Sentra she had originally rented.  The mix-up happened after the female motorist accidentally got into a similar looking car – a black Infiniti, after completing her shopping at Wal-Mart.  The Nissan, meanwhile, was left behind in the parking lot of the supermarket for another two weeks this past June.  It was only when she complained about the vehicle’s unkempt interior as well as the fact there was a set of golf clubs inside the car that things became a little clearer.   The manager looked at the Infiniti keys and told her that it wasn’t the original car she rented.  The pair of them retraced her path back to the Walmart where the Nissan was still sitting in the exact same spot she had parked it.  After contacting the police, it was confirmed that the Infiniti had indeed been listed as stolen.  The owner was soon reunited with his car and said to be delighted with the conclusion to the whole saga.  Police stressed: “Never leave a key fob in a vehicle unless it’s being driven.  You never know who might take it!”
