I have a feeling “The 6 God” will dominate many year-end countdowns and lists of the biggest and best of 2018. Drake has been crowned Apple Music Artist Of The Year and Spotify also named him Artist Of The Year with 8.2 Billion streams. Over 42 Million listeners play his music every month which is a fist of Spotify’s overall 180 Million monthly listeners. Drizzy’s album “Scorpion” also earned the most number of streams and his hit song “God’s Plan” was played more than 1 billion times and was the most-streamed track this year. “In My Feelings”, which sparked the “In my feelings viral dance challenge” placed fifth. Sad! by XXXTentacion, who died in June, came in second. Post Malone placed third and fourth most-streamed songs with Rockstar and Psycho. Malone’s Beerbongs & Bentleys is the second most-streamed album behind Drake’s Scorpion. XXXTentacion, Dua Lipa and Ed Sheeran round out the Top 5. In addition to Drake, Post Malone, XXXTentacion, J Balvin and last year’s most-streamed artist Ed Sheeran made the Top 5 list. Ariana Grande was the most-streamed female artist and currently has the #1 song on Spotify with “Thank You, Next.” Dua Lipa, Cardi B, Taylor Swift and Camila Cabello round out the Top 5 Females. Imagine Dragons was the most-streamed group, followed by South Korean boy band BTS, Maroon 5, Migos and Coldplay. Toronto’s very own “Champagne Papi” is also the most streamed artist of all time on Spotify. Who is your favourite artist and favourite song of 2018? Join the conversation on Facebook and Instagram.
