[Video] Suspected Gunman Identified In The Thousand Oaks Mass Shooting

The senseless violence never seems to end. I woke up this morning and heard the sad and horrific news of another mass shooting this time west of LA in Thousand Oaks California. According to The Associated Press and other media outlets 13 dead including a 28 year old suspected gunman who wore a black hoodie and opened fire in a bar identified by the Sheriff’s office as Ian David Long who deployed a smoke device and was armed with a Glock 21, a .45-caliber handgun designed to hold 10 rounds plus one in the chamber. The sheriff said the gun had an extended magazine that is illegal in California and said he does not know how many rounds that magazine can hold. The gunman attacked staff and patrons at Borderline Bar and Grill during a country night attended by many college students. Ventura County Sheriff Geoff Dean said Long is believed to have killed himself late Wednesday night. His department had several previous contacts with the former Marine including a call to his home in April, when deputies found him acting irate and irrationally. The sheriff said a mental health crisis team was called at that time and concluded that Long did not need to be taken into custody. Sgt. RonHelus a 29 year veteran of the department was one of the first on the scene and hailed as a hero but sadly died in hospital.  US president Donald Trump tweeted “Great bravery shown by police… and god bless all the victims and families of the victims.” My prayers and condolences go out to all the families who have lost loved ones in this terrible tragedy.
