Toronto police are changing how they respond to burglar alarms. They say officers will now only respond to home security alarms when there’s either video or audio confirmation that a crime is taking place, an eyewitness at the scene or multiple alarms activated. Constable Wendy Drummond says it’s an effort to cut down on time wasted on false alarms. Drummond says 97 per cent of burglar alarms in the city are false.
