The Oscar award winning SIR Michael Caine has shed some pounds and is on a health kick and admits he fears dying of cancer. When I first saw the headline I thought he was gravely ill and I said oh no we are going to lose another legend but he’s doing what he can to stay alive as long as possible and we hope that is the case. He’s 84 years old and wants to see his grandkids grow up. He told The Sun UK on Sunday: “I know my days are numbered and that’s the main worry. I’ve had to cut back on the drinking and I’m always looking up what’s the best thing against cancer, so I’ll eat that or do this or not do that. “I’ll probably drop dead talking to you but you know I’ve lost 13kgs just because I want to see my grandchildren. They’re twins of six and a boy of seven. I’d like to get to 17 for the boy.” Caine has made many changes and has banned all sugar, salt and gluten from meals but admits his weakness will always be a bacon sandwich. He praised his 70 year old wife Shakira for saving him from his destructive lifestyle a decade ago. Caine said “Without her I’d have been dead long ago. I used to drink a bottle of vodka a day and smoke several packs of cigarettes.” Caine’s 163rd film is a remake of a 1979 heist comedy caper called “Going In Style” and also stars Morgan Freeman, Alan Arkin, Joey King, Matt Dillon and Ann-Margret. It follows a trio of retirees who plan to rob a bank after their pensions are cancelled. The film is scheduled to be released on April 7, 2017. Hopefully his new healthy lifestylewill help his career too as he had no plans of retiring from acting and plans to keep going as long as he’s offered roles to play.
