“Shrek”and “Puss in Boots” are getting a reboot and the man behind “Despicable Me” Chris Meledandri has been pegged to oversee their revival. Universal Pictures wants Meledandri to find some fresh story lines to reintroduce the characters to moviegoers. Chris doesn’t want to mess with the vocal performances and wants to get the band together including Mike Myers, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas. Meledandri said “When you look back on those vocal performances they’re awesome, and while you certainly could make a case for a complete reinvention, I find myself responding to my own nostalgic feelings of wanting to go back to those characterizations. The challenge for us has been to find something that really does feel like it’s not simply yet another film in a series of sequels.” Stay tuned for more details in the weeks and months to come. The original Shrek in 2001 earned 484.4 Million on a budget of 60 Million. Shrek 2 was released in 2004, Shrek the Third in 2007 and Shrek Forever After. Puss In Boots was released in 2011.
