These Rare Diamond Earrings Just Broke An Auction Record

Yesterday Sotheby’s auction house in Geneva sold a pair of pear-shaped diamond earrings for $51-million dollars US. The ‘Apollo Blue’ and ‘Artemis Pink’ diamonds together broke a record for earrings sold at auction, even though they were sold in individual lots. Excluding fees, the 14.54-carat ‘Apollo Blue’ was the largest flawless Fancy Vivid Blue ever sold at auction. It alone went for $37.5-million dollars.
