Police Make Arrest in Orangeville Break and Enter Spree

The Orangeville Police Service has arrested and charged a 35-year-old male with several criminal offences in connection to a break and enter spree earlier this week.

On Sunday, February 4, 2018, at approximately 12:20am, a lone male broke into the County of Dufferin Community Services building located at 30 Centre Street. The suspect damaged several pieces of electronic and computer equipment in the main resource area. At approximately 1:00am, the same suspect broke into The Beer Store and left a short time later with a small quantity of alcoholic beverages.

On Tuesday, February 6, sometime between 12:30am and 5:00am, a vacant commercial unit at 510 Riddell Road was broken into and a small fire was lit. The Orangeville Fire Department attended to extinguish the fire. The fire caused smoke damage to the unit and adjacent units. At approximately 10:15pm, police discovered that the same unit was damaged again, this time a glass panel in the main entry door had been shattered by a bottle of alcohol being thrown at it.

Security camera footage was captured during the investigation and the suspect was later identified by the investigating officers.

On Wednesday, February 7, at 6:00pm, Lee Patrick Dickie, 35, of Orangeville, attended the Orangeville Police Service where he was arrested and charged with several criminal offences including two counts of Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Mischief Over $5000, Break and Enter with Intent to Commit Theft Under $5000, Arson, Mischief Under $5000 and Possession of Property Obtained by Crime Under $5000.

The accused was held in custody pending a bail hearing in court.
