Parents Warned About Controversial Scene In New Peter Rabbit Film

There is controversy in the new Peter Rabbit film, which debuted this week. Several organizations around the globe, including The Kids With Food Allergies Foundation are now warning parents, and Sony is apologizing for one particular scene. In the scene, Peter Rabbit and his animal friends attack a man with blackberries, knowing he’s allergic to them, and causing the character to use his Epipen. They say “ the movie mocks the seriousness of allergic disease and is heartbreakingly disrespectful to the families of those that have lost loved ones to anaphylaxis.” They also worry kids will see this and think it’s funny to do this in real life. Sony says “food allergies and are a serious issue” and the film “should not have made light” of a character being allergic to blackberries “even in a cartoonish, slapstick way.”

The movie debuted in #2 this week, making $25 Million.
