Over A Dozen Killed After Mass Shooting At A California Bar

Police say the suspect is dead inside a Southern California bar where multiple people were injured late yesterday. Authorities say a responding deputy was shot. Sgt. Ron Helus had been on the force for 29 years and was one of the first officers on the scene in response to 911 calls of shots fired. The sergeant died in hospital. No other information on the victims was immediately known. A Ventura County Sheriff’s captain says the first reports of shots came around 11:20 last night at the Borderline Bar and Grill west of Los Angeles. Police say hundreds were inside when the shooting occurred. Thirteen people, including the police officer, were killed after a gunman opened fire. The suspected gunman was also found dead at the scene. Up to 12 other people are injured.
