Ovechkin And Fleury Reach Milestones

It was a “Milestone Monday” in the NHL. 32 year old Alex Ovechkin scored his 600th career goal in 990 NHL games for the Capitals in front of the home town crowd and his family in attendance at the Capital One Arena in Washington in a 3-2 overtime win against there’s Monday night. OV scored twice in the game and became the 20th NHL player to reach the milestone and the only active player to reach that plateau. Evgeny Kuznetsov scored on a breakaway with 49 seconds left in OT to give the Caps the win. The Vegas Golden Knights have been making history and establishing new records in their inaugural season and a personal milestone was reached for 33 year old veteran goaltender Marc Andre Fleury who made 38 stops and won his 400th NHL game in the a 3-2 win over the Philadelphia Flyers. Fleury who played the majority of his career with the Penguins is the 13th goaltender with 400 wins, and third active, joining Roberto Luongo (467) of the Florida Panthers and Henrik Lundqvist of the New York Rangers (430). Vegas continues to surprise and impress fans worldwide and now have 95 points in 69 games. The Maple Leafs defeated the reigning Stanley Cup Champions Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday 5-2 and are back in action Wednesday night at 7pm against the Dallas Stars at the ACC.
