A notice from the Highway Safety Division was sent out today (July 5) regarding an incident that happened on Tuesday. The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) – Highway Safety Division Crime Unit has started an investigation after an officer was discovered injured on the side of the 400. The investigation determined that the officer had conducted a traffic stop on the left shoulder of the roadway in the area of Highway 400 southbound and Finch Avenue in the City of Toronto around 12:30 a.m. The officer was speaking with the male driver when he fled at a high rate of speed. The officer was caught on the vehicle and dragged a distance before breaking free. The suspect vehicle continued down the highway at a high rate of speed. The suspect vehicle is described as a black Audi. OPP are urging the driver to turn himself in and are now seeking assistance from the public.
