Over the past few weeks, the OPP has responded to a number of reports involving the disposal of garbage in ditches, primarily in the Caledon area.
When examined, the waste appears to be from a synthetic drug lab and is extremely hazardous. Police took precautionary measures immediately in each incident to secure the area which then allowed for specialized resources from the OPP and Caledon Fire and Emergency Services to be brought in and by working together, they were able to safely remove the discarded waste.
The manner in which these materials have been so carelessly discarded is very concerning to the OPP and as a result, the OPP is issuing a public safety warning. Should anyone locate any discarded waste products that possess a strong chemical based odour, have solidified or liquid residue and appear similar to the provided photographs, to contact Police immediately. Under no circumstances should any member of the public go near any of these discarded products.
The OPP is asking parents to please share this story with children of all ages as they embark upon March Break and a soon to be Spring season that will bring them back outdoors.
If you have any information on this crime, please contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or call Peel Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (1-800-222-8477)
