Newmarket Grass Fire Held Up Go Trains For Hours Last Night

Things are back to normal on the Barrie Go train line this morning after serious delays during yesterday’s afternoon rush. Metrolinx says a large grass fire that started near Mulock Dr. and Bayview Ave., spread across the GO tracks, south of Newmarket forcing them to halt service to Barrie. The northbound tracks were shut down for nearly two hours at Mulock Go Station. Visibility in the area was bad due to heavy smoke. Fire crews were able to get the blaze under control around 6:00pm. No injuries were reported but lots of people were late for dinner.
