A new pilot program will see some Grade 9 students at Mayfield Secondary School in Caledon ‘negotiate’ their grades with their teachers at the end of the semester. School principal James Kardash says students will get feedback on their assignments throughout the semester, but not grades. At the end of the semester, Kardash says the student and teacher will have a conversation and try to agree on an appropriate final grade. He says the teacher has the final say but there will be an appeals process if the student disagrees.
