Avicii’s first album ‘True’, in my opinion and the opinion of many others was a game-changer for the world of EDM. Many big DJs and EDM fans alike had differing opinions for True. We all remember the backlash after his performance at Ultra Music Festival 2013 in Miami. People did not understand how he could mix folk/country sounds into EDM. Well he did and it was a HUGE success! ‘Wake Me Up’, the lead single off the album was the fastest selling single in the UK ever, and topped the charts in over 20 countries! After the success, DJs and EDM fans were singing the praises of Tim Bergling (a.k.a. Avicii). It took courage to do what he did.
After touring the world for a couple years, he is ready to release his sophomore album ‘Stories’ on Oct 2. He told Rolling Stone in an interview that Stories is going to be “a lot more song-oriented” than his last album. He says he has worked on 70 songs for this album (only 14 will make the cut), collaborating with the likes of Jon Bon Jovi, Chris Martin, Wyclef Jean and many others!
If you are a fan of Dance music, no doubt you are as excited as me to hear what Avicii has in store for us this time around!
