The LCBO says more Ontarians turned to the Internet to buy alcohol over the holidays. Online sales totalled nearly $2 million between November 6 and New Year’s Eve. That’s up from $1.7 million over the previous three months. On average the LCBO took in an average of 147 orders per day over the holidays, up from 80 in the previous three months. Apparently, over the holiday period beer sales dropped and there was a boost in red wine and spirits sales.
There is a $50 minimum for any purchases through LCBO.com and purchases can be delivered to an LCBO store for free, or to a customer’s home through Canada Post for a $12 fee plus tax. Postal workers are required to ask for ID when orders are picked up.
