Messy First Day of March Break for Drivers

The OPP responded to dozens of collisions and vehicles that were stuck in the snow on Hwy 401, Hwy 403 and the QEW. There were no serious injuries reported.  Some vehicles we came across didn’t have winter tires on and weren’t prepared for the weather conditions.
At Pearson Airport about 50 departing flights have been cancelled, while 60 more have been delayed. The Billy Bishop airport, however, saw only  four delays and one cancellation.
“If you’re driving make sure you give yourself lots of time,” OPP Sgt. Kerry Schmidt told Z103.5 on Hwy 403 in Mississauga during a ride along. “It’s going to be one of those days.” He continued.
Sheridan College closed early and canceled evening classes on Monday.
The GTA forecast for Tuesday: Snow and blowing snow. Amount 5 to 10 cm. Wind northeast 30 km/h gusting to 50. High -7.
