If you have family or friends in Portugal, you may want to check on them today. The country’s interior minister says the death toll from a raging forest fire stands at 62. Firefighters are still battling the flames on all four fronts of the fire northeast of Lisbon, while fire and police crews search charred out areas looking for more bodies. Flames killed dozens as they tried to flee the fire, scorching vehicles as it swept over roads. Portugal’s president has declared three days of national mourning. Lightning is believed to have sparked the fire.
