Driver Discovers RIDE Spot Check, Puts Vehicle In Reverse

Caledon OPP were conducting a RIDE program earlier this week at the northbound off-ramp to Valleywood Boulevard from Highway 10.

When the driver spotted the RIDE spot check, he put the vehicle into reverse to go back onto Highway 10 and continued northbound. Police proceeded after the vehicle which was paced to be going in excess of 160 km/hr. in a posted 80 km/hr. zone. The driver pulled into a gas station to try and hide from police.

The 27-year-old male driver of Alliston was charged with Race a Motor Vehicle – Excessive Speed. He will appear in court later this month.
