‘Deadpool 2’ Breaks Thursday Preview Records, Dethrones ‘Avengers-Infinity War’

The ‘Deadpool’ sequel opened in domestic theaters last night and broke the Thursday preview record with $18.6 million, surpassing the previous $13.5 million high water mark set by “IT” in September last year!  ‘Deadpool 2’ is expected to earn anywhere from $130-150 million in North America this weekend alone, surpassing the original’s $132.4 million opening haul, and up to $350 million worldwide this weekend. Needless to say it’ll dethrone current box office king(s) The Avengers, sending ‘Infinity War’ to the second place podium for the first time in almost 5 weeks.

The first movie went on to ultimately gross $363 million domestically and $783 million worldwide in total. Review scores on critics aggregate sites are all slightly better than the first, which is surprising and already has the studio planning a shooting schedule for the subsequent spin-off movie, ‘X-Force’, which begins principle photography in April 2019!
