The male pleaded guilty and was fined $1,250 for possessing a high-powered rifle during the gun season for deer without a valid deer licence and $500 for failing to wear hunter orange clothing while hunting.
Court heard that on November 19, 2017, he went hunting on a property in Douro-Dummer Township, Peterborough County. During the hunt, he was inspected by a conservation officer and was found to be in possession of a high-powered rifle while claiming to be hunting only small game. He did not possess a valid deer licence, which was required in order to possess the rifle during the open gun season for deer, and was not wearing proper hunter orange clothing at the time of the inspection.
