Apple Officially Joins Instagram

Hard to believe Apple wasn’t on Instagram but they are now. Instagram is owned by Mark Zuckerberg and Facebook but The iPhone helped create Instagram and together they launched a revolution in taking and sharing photos. According to “The Independent” more than one trillion photos are taken each year on Apple’s handset which is by far the most popular camera in the world. Apple officially unveiled their account Monday uploading a series of slideshows that celebrate the iPhone’s camera. The photos are part of Apple’s “Shot on iPhone” campaign and have been sourced from other Instagram users. The company recorded interviews with these photographers including snippets of their statements in short video clips. It also used Instagram’s Stories encouraging others to participate using the hashtag #ShotoniPhone. Apple has no plans to post pictures of its products like other brands do. Apple has traditionally avoided social media platforms controlled by potential competitors. Apple has a Twitter account but doesn’t follow anybody and there are no photos posted. They still haven’t sent out any regular tweets other than ads which is why its tweet count officially remains at zero

#ShotoniPhone by… – 1. Mirabai M. @mirafilm “Beekeeping is incredibly addictive. Once you start, it’s very hard to stop. I think I’ll probably be a beekeeper for the rest of my life.” – 2. Jeremy S. @jeremysnell “I do show people the photos I take of them. A lot of these people have never really had their picture taken before, so this is really special to them. I think it opens people up in a new way, when they are able to see themselves in an image.” – 3. Daniil S. @daniil “I want to show the backstage – we’re surrounded by so much beauty that we take for granted. For us it’s so common. We don’t see the beauty anymore.” – 4. Marcelo N. @marcelonava “I like to walk, exploring a city, knowing every little space within the world.” – 5. Dave S. @davesandford “An adrenaline rush? Quite the opposite actually. I find swimming with sharks to be very peaceful.”
