Down in the U.S., Amazon really wants to get customers shopping online this Christmas. Amazon will offer free shipping to all customers – not just the tens of millions who have an Amazon Prime subscription – on orders that will arrive in time for Christmas. Last year, Amazon shoppers without Prime memberships had to spend at least $25 to earn free shipping, but Amazon is waiving the purchase minimum starting Monday to give “customers even more convenient and faster delivery options,” the company announced. Prime members aren’t getting ripped off here. They will get free same-day delivery on even more items than usual and delivery within an hour from Whole Foods stores. Amazon’s new offer could overshadow holiday strategies from top competitors like Target, which offers free two-day shipping on all orders from November 1 to December 22.
So far no Canadian Amazon promotions have been announced.
